Online Exemptions Portal

1)  If you already have Homestead Exemption, or have applied, there is no need to re-apply.

• Please continue if you do not have Homestead Exemption or you would like to apply for Additional Exemptions (Senior, Veterans, Disability, Widow/Widower, etc...)


2)  You will be required to provide PERSONAL & CONFIDENTIAL information, such as Social Security Number and Driver's License.

Do NOT use this application on PUBLIC computers, such as those at the public library or coffee shop.


3)  To qualify for Homestead Exemption, you MUST own and occupy your home as your primary residence and be a Florida Resident as of January 1st.

• All Exemption applications are due to the Property Appraiser before March 1st •


You must locate your property before you can continue:

1)   Click to find your property.

2)   Click the "Apply for Homestead Exemptions" button on the Parcel Details page.

3)   You will then be brought back to this page at which point you will be able to continue the application process.


Documents to Bring When Applying for Exemptions
(Each individual applying should have the following)
• Social Security Number

• Florida Driver's License or ID card with Current Address

• Florida Vehicle Tag Number

• Voter Registration (if applicable)

• Immigration Information
(Residency Card, Passport, etc.)

• School information where dependent children are registered

• Checking/Savings Account Statement
(leave in envelope)

• Paid Utility Bill with Service Address

• Death Certificate of Spouse
(for widow/widower's exemption)

• Copy of Trust
(for properties titled to Trust)

• Please contact our office for the required documentation when applying for Disability and Service-Connected Exemptions


Online Exemption applications are provided as a courtesy.
In-person applications can be made at the DeSoto County Property Appraiser office.
